Frequently Asked Questions
What is performance coaching?
One of my favourite definitions of coaching comes from Jenny Rogers:“Coaching raises self-awareness and identifies choices. Working to the client’s agenda, the coach and client have the sole aim of closing the gaps between potential and performance.”*
Performance coaching is not counselling, therapy or life coaching.** Performance coaching is for individuals who want to enhance their performance professionally and personally.
Rather than providing advice or a personal viewpoint, the role of a coach is to use skilled questioning, to challenge where appropriate, and to offer professional support to help develop the resourcefulness and ability of the coachee.
* ‘Coaching Skills, a Handbook’ – Jenny Rogers, pg 7 of third edition, published 2012
** Other types of therapy and coaching hold immense value and may be appropriate for some individuals instead of or alongside performance coaching, however they are not my personal areas of expertise or part of my service offering.
how can coaching
help me?
In our unrelenting environment of ‘cognitive overload’ and overwhelm, alongside increasing pressures and expectations, there’s more need than ever to step back and process everything in a calm environment.
Coaching is based on the understanding that individuals don’t need to be told what to do, but can benefit from having their existing capacity and untapped potential drawn out. At the heart of coaching lies the ability to “pull out from people clear thinking, higher achievement, inspired vision, leadership, fee-earning, game-changing performance.”*
Taking the time to clarify, review options, prioritise and commit to the best way forward can make all the difference between average and outstanding personal and professional performance. What are you willing to settle for?

is coaching for me?
There are pre-requisites. Coaching is about change and action. To ensure a successful outcome, coachees must want to participate in a personalised coaching programme, desire to develop and be committed to taking action to achieve results.
Advancing overall performance typically means focusing on both professional-related objectives as well as personal goals.
We work together to create awareness, helping you generate ideas, explore choices and identify relevant steps to progress.
You are fully supported throughout the process as you take responsibility to move forward and reach defined goals.
Absolutely. Although the majority of the clients I partner with are senior leaders and professionals, BE is focused on enhancing the performance of clients no matter who you are and what your current role is.
To date, my clients have ranged from entrepreneurs, mid-management and business leaders to Directors. Organisation types have spanned numerous sizes and industries including business start-ups, multi-national media firms, award-winning advertising agencies, investment management companies and global luxury brands.
The positive impact of coaching is so profound that ideally everybody should have the opportunity to benefit. If you’d like to develop self-awareness and strengthen the foundation for future career advancement and personal growth - it is never too early to benefit from coaching.

are you a qualified coach?
Professional coaches approach each coaching relationship from a neutral and non-judgemental standpoint without pre-conceived ideas or expectations. The Association for Coaching has a strict code of ethics that I work in line with to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Realising that coaching involves a certain degree of vulnerability in opening up to another person and receiving feedback, I endeavour to provide a safe, confidential and neutral space for clients so they can derive the most value from coaching.
will i feel comfortable sharing personal information with someone
I don't know?
Working to the Association for Coaching’s code of ethics includes maintaining strict client confidentiality (unless there is evidence of illegal activity or the potential harm to the coachee or others is disclosed).
In line with the ethics code, I receive coaching supervision from an experienced coaching supervisor. Identities of coachees are not disclosed at any time however I may review some of the issues discussed to ensure I can be better prepared to assist you.
When coaching in an organisational setting, confidentiality is maintained. We will agree at the outset with your line manager or HR team what feedback will be shared and what will not be appropriate to disclose.
how does information shared remain confidential?
The number of sessions will vary according to an individual's needs and goals. In general, most individuals benefit from a minimum of five sessions spread over a period of weeks-months. Once initial goals have been reached, if you'd like to continue coaching, a new agreement detailing fresh objectives will be written up.
how many coaching sessions
will i need?
There is no set rule however to benefit the most from our time together, sessions are generally 1-1.5 hours in length.
what's the duration of each session?
Coaching can take place in-person (London-based), or virtually via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Where possible however, my preference is to hold coaching sessions face-to-face in a personalised, confidential environment.
I can visit clients directly at their place of work however the majority of clients prefer to meet at a more neutral location such as a quiet cafe or hotel lobby. As part of our initial consultation, we will agree a preferred location where you will feel the most comfortable.
WHERE IS THE LOCATION?
Ongoing support is offered to coachees throughout the programme. In addition to the coaching sessions themselves, coachees can take advantage of access to me via email in between coaching sessions.
WHAT SUPPORT WILL BE OFFERED?
Costs are competitive, in line with market rates for qualified, accredited coaches (while taking into account the budgets of those who wish to be coached privately rather than via a corporate programme).
Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements and set up an initial consultation (offered without charge), to ensure you're comfortable with proceeding and we are the right fit to work together before committing to a coaching programme.
what is the cost?
I always contract at the outset of each coaching engagement to not only understand and clarify each coachee’s and/or organisation’s objectives and expectations, but to agree on how success will be measured.
Depending on the requirements, we may agree a formal review of progress at various points throughout the programme, involving relevant internal stakeholders as needed. (Within an organisational setting, additional measurement requirements (such as conducting and comparing 360 evaluation reports before and after coaching) can be accommodated).
In the final session, we review original objectives set, reflect on key learnings and confirm measures of success have been met. As well as inviting honest feedback throughout the sessions, I request coachees complete a feedback form at the conclusion of our coaching to ensure I can continually enhance my practice.
how is success measured?
Before undertaking a programme, it’s vital we both feel comfortable with each other and that we are the right fit to work together.
It is in my best interests to ensure a positive outcome for each client so I meet all potential clients before agreeing to any coaching assignment. I am part of a network of professional, qualified coaches with a variety of specialisations – so depending on your needs, I can recommend another coach if this would be more relevant and beneficial.
It’s also important we are both clear on exactly what you want to achieve from the coaching programme to ensure I’m best placed to support you.
Please contact me to set up an initial consultation to discuss your needs and see if coaching with BE is suitable for you. This consultation is offered without charge.
A coaching agreement detailing your goals and desired outcomes will then be written up and approved by you before beginning the coaching programme.

For individuals
Before setting up a coaching programme for any of your employees, it’s crucial I understand your objectives and confirm if I’m the right fit for your company’s culture as well as for the coachee.
